State healthcare is by it's nature extremely centralized, which has terrible repercussions if it's poorly managed. For the 90%+ of insured people here, even if you ideologically support universal healthcare there's a question of whether you really want to risk a messy, poorly managed public system when the current system is inconvenient but at least works - especially considering the decline in confidence many of us have had in the competency of our government over the past several years.
